Who Are We

History

VertCité is a non-profit organization that was created on March 25, 2004, by a group of citizens and the borough of Saint-Laurent. Originally known as the Centre de recherche et d’action pour le bien-être environnemental (C.R.A.B.E), the organization changed its name in 2012 as part of a strategic planning process.

VertCité manages projects and offers sustainable development services while acting as a resource for the population on this subject. Since its creation, the organization has run the Éco-quartier program in the borough of Saint-Laurent. The organization also manages and develops other projects such as two eco-boutiques, the Érablière Urbaine spring event, the Quartier 21 program in the Chameran-Lebeau neighbourhood, the public pianos of Saint-Laurent and many urban agriculture projects.

In 2015, VertCité expanded to open a second point of service in Pierrefonds-Roxboro, which develops a variety of projects ranging from agriculture to waste management.
